Annual reports

NJR Annual Reports analyse the data collected in the NJR database over a 12 month period and highlight the aims and achievements of the National Joint Registry, its Steering Committee and its sub-committees.

The most recent report, the Fourth Annual Report, was released at the British Orthopaedic Association’s Annual Congress on 26 September 2007. The report and its findings were presented by the surgical representatives on the NJR Steering Committee, Professor Paul Gregg, Mr Martyn Porter, and Mr Keith Tucker, and by Dr Jan van der Meulen, who leads the Clinical Effectiveness Unit at the Royal College of Surgeons.

The report covers the period from April 2006 to March 2007 and looks at a range of areas, including:

  • the continued improvement of data submitted to the NJR
  • linkage of the NJR to the Hospital Episode Statistics database
  • analysis of two increasingly popular surgical techniques.

Mr Bill Darling, Chair of the National Joint Registry Steering Committee stated that, in his view, “…this Annual Report will prove to be of greater value to all stakeholders than it 3 predecessors”.  The report was extremely well received at the Congress.

You can download a copy of the NJR 4th Annual Report from the right-hand side of this page. For printed copies of the report please contact the NJR Centre.
